Embark on a culinary world tour with this summer camp for kids aged 7-12! This unique camp invites children to explore international cuisines through engaging hands-on cooking experiences. Each day of the week, our young chefs will delve into the flavors and techniques of a different country, crafting both traditional and modern dishes that showcase global diversity. The camp offers flexible scheduling with morning, afternoon, and full-day sessions to accommodate busy families. Whether they’re learning to make hummus from scratch, kneading dough for Italian pizza, or assembling the perfect Mexican taco, participants will gain practical cooking skills and a deeper appreciation for world cultures.

Monday: Little Italy

Our young chefs will embark on a flavorful journey through Italy, mastering the art of homemade pasta and pizza. They will get hands-on experience preparing authentic Italian sauces and delight in crafting a traditional dessert, inspired by nonna herself.

Students will learn about at least three recipes, which could include: Homemade pastas and pizzas, Sweet and savory breads, Classic Bolognese and meatballs, Creamy Alfredo and vibrant Rose sauces, Fresh Mozzarella and Parmigiano, Delectable Tramezzini (Italian sandwiches), Crisp Biscotti, Strawberry Tiramisu, Homemade Gelato

Tuesday: Fiesta Mexicana

Under the expert guidance of our Chef Instructor, young chefs will delve into the rich and diverse flavors of authentic Mexican cuisine. This Mexican adventure will introduce participants to a variety of classic dishes, capturing the essence of Mexican culinary traditions.

Some of the recipes we’ll be cooking might include: Tacos Dorados de Papas (crispy tortilla rolls with potatoes), Quesadillas con Jamón y Queso (ham and cheese quesadillas), Tacos de Pollo (chicken tacos with garnishes), Enchiladas (soft tortillas in red or green sauce stuffed with chicken), Salsa Roja y Verde (red and green sauces), Pico de Gallo (the real one), Guacamole and homemade chips, Arroz y Frijoles (rice and beans), Churros, Flan Napolitano (creamy Mexican crème caramel), Arroz con Leche (rice pudding), Fruit Paletas (Mexican fruit pops), and Aguas (natural fruit waters).

Wednesday: American Fusion

During this day of camp, we celebrate the culinary heritage of Canada, mixed with iconic recipes from our southern neighbors in the USA.

Some of the dishes we’ll cook include: Caesar Salad, Traditional Bannock, Chicken and Waffles, Mac and Cheese, Fish & Chips, Corn Dogs, Chicken Fingers, Poutine with homemade gravy, Pancakes with maple syrup and fruit, Banana Bread, Banana Split, and Apple Pie.

This delightful mix provides an engaging cooking experience, teaching kids the techniques and ingredients that are staples in Canadian and American kitchens.

Thursday: A Tour of Asia

On Thursdays, campers take a culinary journey through the diverse flavors of Asia.  Your children will discover a range of recipes and delicacies that capture the essence of Asian cuisine.

Some of the dishes we’ll explore include: Fresh Spring Rolls, Thai Corn Fritters, Hummus, Chicken Teriyaki Bowl, Ginger Beef Meatball Stir Fry Noodles, Butter Chicken, Hor Mok Ma Prow Awn (Coconut Seafood Curry), Mango Sticky Rice, Korean Strawberry Milk, and Coconut Flan.

This day offers a unique opportunity for young chefs to learn about and cook a variety of Asian dishes, enhancing their culinary skills and broadening their taste horizons.

Friday: Opa! Discovering Greece

Our final day of camp focuses on Greek cuisine, which is a cornerstone of European culinary tradition. In this day of camp, your kids will explore the bright and fresh dishes of Greece, that are both delicious and steeped in history.

Some of the recipes that your kids will cook might include: Feta Spanakopita, Greek Salad, Tzatziki, Ellinikos Lemoni Patatas (Greek lemon potatoes), Beef Souvlaki, Gyros, Spanakoriza (Greek risotto), Keftedakia (Greek meatballs), Loukoumades (Greek donuts), Frozen Fruit Yogurt Pops, and Honey Baklava.

In Our Camps

For each week that our Kitchen Odyssey camp runs, there will be a different selection of skills and recipes to explore.  That means you can send the kids for a week or send them for a month, each camp offers a different set of skills and experiences.

Our classes are organized as an all-day event.  Each camp begins in the morning with breakfast for the students, before we head into the kitchen to get to work. There are breaks throughout the program, approximately every 45 minutes.

Students are encouraged to bring take home containers to take leftovers with them. We provide all the rest of the required tools and equipment for the camp, including knives, aprons, a chef’s hat and for smaller children, a security stool.

Our camps run from 9am until 4pm daily.  For morning sessions, our camps run from 9am until 12pm and afternoon sessions from 1pm until 4pm daily. For all day sessions, students will enjoy a lunch break and some activities between sessions.  We allow for a 15-minute window for student drop-offs and pickup before and after the programs.
