Couples Cooking Class: Provence
September 25 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Join us for a Provençal-inspired French couples cooking class, where you and your partner will cook a full menu together before sitting down to enjoy it. The evening includes a classic salad Niçoise, chicken Provençal, and tarte tatin to finish. It's a date night built around delicate, sun-drenched French cooking and good company.
About this Cooking Class
Provençal cooking is French food at its most sun-drenched: olives, tomatoes, herbs, and good olive oil doing most of the talking, which is the spirit behind this menu. You and your partner will work together in the kitchen to build a spread that moves from a classic Niçoise salad to a rich, slow-braised chicken Provençal. You’ll have the chance to meet other couples as you laugh, learn, and cook, and once the food’s ready, you’ll retire to the dining room at Culinaria to break bread together. Wine and other beverages are available for purchase throughout the evening.
Curriculum
Amuse-bouche
A Chef’s creation to kick off the evening and set the tone for your journey into Provençal cuisine, a small, thoughtfully composed bite meant to wake up your palate before the real cooking begins.
Salad Niçoise
This classic French salad brings together fresh French beans, potatoes, and a gently poached free-range egg with fresh tuna, letting the yolk run into everything once it’s cut. It’s a dish built on contrast, tender vegetables, rich egg, and clean, fresh tuna, that somehow feels both simple and composed at once.
Chicken Provençal
Chicken leg quarters get braised low and slow with kalamata olives, crushed tomatoes, anchovy paste, and red wine, the anchovy melting completely into the sauce to add depth rather than any fishiness. Served over white rice, it’s the kind of dish where the sauce is the real star, rich and savory enough to justify soaking up every last bit of it.
Tarte Tatin
Golden Delicious apples get caramelized until deeply golden, then baked underneath a layer of flaky pastry and flipped once it’s done, so the fruit ends up glazed and glossy on top. Served with vanilla ice cream, the warm, caramelized apple against the cold, melting scoop is what makes this upside-down tart a French classic.
